IN A CITY FULL OF TUK-TUK DRIVERS, WHY CHOOSE ME?
Firstly, before we get started, thank you for visiting my website and showing an interest in the trips I offer.
I'm Narith, and I have lived in Siem Reap all of my life. Originally from the countryside, I now live in the city center with my wife and children. I enjoy going back to visit my family, but more than that, I love taking my dear customers out to meet them. My mother even teaches some of my customers how to cook like a local, in our very own kitchen and I always get very positive feedback from this experience. I was born in Siem Reap and I have been riding my tuk-tuk for 15 years, which has given me a lot of experience both driving, and meeting customers from all over the world. Doing this job has given me the knowledge of many beautiful places in Siem Reap that I would love to share with you.
From the pictures, and my reviews, I hope you can see that I'm more than just a tuk-tuk driver; I thrive on showing people the real Cambodia, and answering any questions about my culture they may have. First, I am your friend. Second, I am your driver.
You may be wondering why you shouldn't just pull out your smartphone and book a tuk-tuk via Grab or Pass... Well, unfortunately, these are owned by foreign companies and a lot of the money generated, doesn't stay in Cambodia. Even the small white tuk-tuks you see are imported. The type of tuk-tuk I drive, is called a remorque. This is a traditional carriage-style tuk-tuk that I pull on the back of a motorbike, and it was made right here in Cambodia. I love my country, and I am passionate abut supporting local craftsmen and women.
In Cambodia right now, tourism is really declining as a side-effect of Covid. Most tourists, when they visit Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, they choose the services recommended by their hotel, or they rent their own motorbike. Whenever they choose a hotel service such as booking a group tour or renting a motorbike, it is as if they are helping the rich in Cambodia to become even richer. This is why I do not want all foreign guests to spend their money on people who already have a lot of money. I want all tourists to understand tourism and the economy in Cambodia today. And as I said, tourism is really declining here so it is really hard for us tuk-tuk drivers to make money. Whenever I visit a country, and I meet poor people who have a hard time earning a living, I will help them. I do not like to spend my money on people who already have a lot.
